About Us
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Natural Resources Department (NRD) is a Tribal government agency focused on conserving, protecting, and enhancing the environment and natural resources for the benefit of the Cherokee community. Our work blends traditional cultural values with modern science to sustain healthy ecosystems for current and future generations of Cherokee people.
We focus on conserving fish, wildlife, plants, forests, and aquatic habitats; protecting Tribal air and water quality; supporting regulatory processes; promoting natural resource–based recreation and cultural practices; and providing education for the Cherokee community.
